Supporting Caregiver Decision-Making

When making important choices about where to access healthcare, patients and caregivers rely on resources and tools that support them in their decision-making process. To support patients and caregivers in making informed care decisions, we must first better understand their needs, behaviors, and preferences.

By exploring how unpaid caregivers of adults 65 years or older make decisions about where to take their loved ones for care we were able to identify the trusted resources they rely on, major influences on their decision-making process, and preferences for communication. The key takeaways and caregiver personas we developed broadly inform content and design development of tools that seek to support their care decisions.
